We discussed different forces such at pushes and pulls and experimented with cars and plastic balls. We demonstrated the different forces and expressed them in diagrams.

Experiment 2: In our next science experiment we looked at magnetic forces. We discussed that a magnet has a North and a South Pole. The children tried to see if you could get a north pole to touch a north pole and a south pole to touch a south pole. The children came to the conclusion that the same poles repel and and the opposite poles attract.
The children then discussed how we might use opposing magnetic fores to propel our time machine back through time. The same poles could send it back in time and the opposite poles could bring it back to the present. Here are some of their designs. I think we might be on to something here!
Experiment 3: Morag McGregor our billionaire Scottish sponsor gave us a challenge, as part of our training and preparation, to create electrical circuits so that we could repair our time machine if needed. We had to make a buzzer buzz and a light-bulb light up. The children then drew the circuits on whiteboards using the correct symbols.
Rocks and soils.
After crash landing our time machine in Ancient Greece 2500 years ago we have started to explore the Greek climate and geography. Our probe has collected samples of rocks which we have been examining.
We we did a carousel of 4 activities:
- Was to sort the rocks according to their characteristics.
- Was to decide what rocks could be used to create shelters.
- To research igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
- To use microscopes to draw close observational drawings of different rock types.
What at does a plant need to be healthy?
Aim: To investigate how different conditions affect how cress grows. The children decided on different environments for the cress to be grown. The test was fair as they all started under the same conditions of being on wet blue paper towels. They were then left for a week to see how they reacted to their environments.
How has the cress reacted to its environments? Which looks the healthiest and unhealthiest and why do you think this is?
