Stuck for dressing up ideas, check this World Book Day page.
This afternoon we had Martin from Architecture workshops in to show us how to make a Greek Temple. We used garden canes and rubber bands. We started by making triangles and then combining 3 triangles to make a 3d pyramid. This became our base.
We then made squares and checked them with our right angle checkers. We combined our squares together then added support columns . We then made it 3d by adding a roof.
After that we had a nerve racking challenge of lifting the roof above our heads. Would it all hold together?
It was a fantastic experience and helped us to understand the shapes involved in building structures.
Here are our Trireme Greek ships. What was the most difficult part of making them and what does your sail design say about your ship?
